MODIFIED HOURS DURING COVID:
Vienna Tiny Tots Village has been a family owned and operated staple in Vienna for over 50 years. Our preschool program follows a Fairfax County sponsored curriculum called the Creative Curriculum. When we expose children to different environments and various learning experiences, we allow them to explore their self-awareness and gain a sense of the world around them. Once they leave our Preschool, they’re fully prepared for the next stage of their young lives.
The children's artwork decorates our classroom and is sent home daily.
Young children feel a sense of emotional satisfaction when they are involved in making art, whether they are modeling with clay, drawing with crayons, or making a collage from recycled scraps. Deciding what they will make and what materials they will use may be the first opportunity children have to make independent choices and decisions.
Making art also builds children's self-esteem by giving them opportunities to express what they are thinking and feeling. Small group art activities also help children practice important social skills like taking turns, sharing, and negotiating for materials.
The outdoors is the very best place for preschoolers to practice and master emerging physical, communication, and social skills.
It is in the outdoors that children can fully and freely experience motor skills like running, leaping, and jumping. The outdoors has something more to offer than just physical benefits. Cognitive and social/emotional development are impacted, too. Outside, children are more likely to invent games. As they do, they're able to express themselves and learn about the world in their own way. They feel safe and in control, which promotes autonomy, decision-making, and organizational skills. Inventing rules for games as preschoolers like to do promotes an understanding of why rules are necessary and important. Although the children are only playing to have fun, they're developing communication and social skills that will prepare them for the next step in their young lives.
Music is an important tool for learning in life.
Music ignites all areas of child development and skills for school readiness. It helps the body and the mind work together. Exposing children to music during early development helps them learn the sounds and meanings of words. Music helps develop skills including intellectual, social, emotional, motor, language, and overall literacy. Dancing to music helps children build motor skills while allowing them to practice self-expression.
